Clinical Teaching Associate

About the Role



Clinical Teaching Associates (CTAs) from the community are integral to the Department of Medical Education's Sensitive Physical Examinations Program. CTAs receive training to simulate patients for gynaecological and breast examinations. They assist in teaching medical students these essential examination skills, including communication and consent skills.



CTAs provide immediate feedback to students during examinations, ensuring best practice and patient-centered care.



Your responsibilities will include:





  • Demonstrate professional behavior and techniques for performing a gynaecological or breast examination.

  • Demonstrate hygienic practices as prescribed in the protocols.

  • Demonstrate consent to a genital examination.



Who We Are Looking For



You will possess biological female genital anatomy and breasts, be comfortable demonstrating and receiving several gynaecological and breast examinations during tutorials, and have strong interpersonal, communication, and confidentiality skills.



You must be highly reliable, punctual, and willing to travel for tutorials, with experience in education or healthcare being desirable. All required training on examinations, communication, and consent skills will be provided.



You will also have:





  • Biological female genital anatomy and breasts, within the range of normal anatomical variety, and be willing to be examined by an independent medical practitioner to satisfy this requirement.

  • A demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, particularly as it relates to interactions with students.

  • Be willing to travel to Shepparton, Wangaratta, Ballarat, and Geelong for tutorials. Transport will be provided.
