Role Overview

Mater Hospital Brisbane is currently seeking Enrolled Nurses to join Ward 7East, which focuses on Acute / Subacute Medical / Geriatric and Gastroenterology care.

We have two permanent part-time positions (32 hours per week) and one maximum term contract. We are open to part-time availability, but full-time is preferred.

The ward combines Subacute (Rehabilitation and Geriatric Evaluation and Management), Acute General Medical, and Acute Gastroenterology patients in a 21-bed ward.

The nursing team collaborates with the Geriatric Medical Team, focusing on restoring physical and cognitive functions or preventing further decline, with the goal of determining discharge destinations and improving outcomes for older adults.

The Gastroenterology subspecialty provides care for conditions affecting the gastrointestinal system, such as:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
  • Liver issues (hepatitis, cirrhosis)
  • Gut malignancies and benign tumors (e.g., stomach and bowel cancer)
  • Investigations like bleeding assessments, colonoscopy, endoscopy

Ability to work a rotating roster, including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends, is required.

Salary range: $38.21 per hour plus 12% superannuation.

About the Ideal Candidate

Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse and experience in acute care nursing is highly regarded.

Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work both independently and in a team, using initiative and sound judgment.

Attention to detail and organizational skills.
