About the Role

This is a key position within the Public Transport Authority, responsible for long-term planning and optimization of public transport systems in the Perth metropolitan area. The successful candidate will have a strong background in transportation planning, policy, and advanced technology systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement long-term plans for public transport services in the Perth metropolitan area, incorporating cutting-edge technologies for informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to service expansion plans for Transperth, providing detailed financial implications, including operating and capital costs.
  • Monitor public transport trends and innovations locally and globally, identifying opportunities for Perth's transport network.
  • Manage the operational effectiveness of Transperth's Intelligent Transport Systems, including the Dynamic Stand Management System (DSMS), Real Time Tracking System (RTTS), and Traffic Signal Priority System (TSPS).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including local authorities, government departments, and transport agencies, to ensure efficient public transport services.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of intelligent transport systems, including dynamic bus stand management systems, real-time bus tracking systems, and vehicle traffic signal priority systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of public transport planning and policy issues, including understanding of urban planning principles.
  • Well-developed strategic planning and change management skills, including understanding of economic principles.
  • Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to prepare responses to ministerial and parliamentary questions.
  • Well-developed planning and organizing skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks to meet timelines.
