Senior Mining Engineer Job Description

This role involves providing technical services to a mine site, supporting the operations team with short-term engineering support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and drive mine production activities as required, creating and submitting mine plans and reports to meet business objectives.
  • Effective communication of all engineering plans and schedules to the underground workforce.
  • Mentor junior national engineers in drill & blast, ventilation, dewatering, backfilling, and production processes.
  • Regular review of established processes and standards to maximise economic profit for the operation.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of the UG mobile equipment fleet: Jumbos, loaders, trucks, longhole drill, diamond drill, raisebore.
  • Ensure QAQC of explosives charging practices.
  • Establishes schedules for drill and blast barging for the underground mining at K92 Mining.
  • Monitor the performance of any contractors involved in these activities.
  • Reviews with other engineering specialist, mining production targets and ore specifications and liaises with process personnel accordingly.

The mine is currently undergoing transformation with a new 1.2 mtpa process plant and extensive construction and expansion across site. This will see us triple the output from our mine by 2027.
