This role involves working closely with students and teachers to support language learning activities.

The following key responsibilities are integral to the position:

  • Collaborating with individual or small groups of students undertaking language learning activities
  • Providing feedback to students on correct language usage
  • Modeling correct language usage (e.g. pronunciation and idiom)
  • Co-teaching or providing targeted support to small groups or individuals
  • Assisting the delivery of face-to-face or online cultural activities

Additionally, you will contribute to professional development sessions for language teachers, participate in activities that promote the target language, and provide native-like speaker expertise to teachers on use of the language.

You will also assist with the development of resources to support the teaching of the language, facilitate language or cultural professional learning workshops for teachers, present at regional and/or language teacher association conferences, and participate in activities that promote language learning and intercultural understanding in the broader community.

Other key roles and responsibilities include contributing to curriculum planning and resource development, supporting school-based language program initiatives, and developing language teaching and learning materials that require expert knowledge of the target language.

Key Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated capacity to perform duties consistent with established guidelines and frameworks, including coordinating and supporting others in respect to specific work functions relevant to the role.

They will also possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position, as well as the ability to communicate effectively in a team environment.

A commitment to ongoing professional learning and growth for both self and others is essential.

The candidate will have certification and/or qualifications of up to three years, and will be required to undertake coordination, specialized student/teacher support tasks, or technical tasks as experience in the role is gained.

They will also be able to work collaboratively with others in a team environment, and will be committed to ensuring data is properly maintained.
