About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join our Engineering Services division in Melbourne. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assembling and fabricating parts, performing machining and fabrication tasks, and integrating trial assemblies to platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble fabricated and manufactured parts into products and sub-assemblies
  • Perform machining, fabrication, and welding tasks as required
  • Integrate trial assemblies to platforms and perform mechanical diagnostics and fault finding
  • Conduct calibration, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of QinetiQ products and assemblies
  • Provide advice and guidance to professional engineers and designers
  • Support QA of material and sub-assemblies
  • Perform function and end of line checks and tests
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Trades qualification as Fitter & Turner/Toolmaker or Cert-IV in engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in safe maintenance and operation of industrial machinery
  • Experience interpreting and working with assembly and/or engineering drawings
  • Superior attention to detail and complex problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a changing environment and customer-focused
