Key Role: Marketing and Communications Specialist

We are seeking a seasoned marketing professional to lead the delivery of communications that support our external outreach, fundraising, and revenue development goals.

This freelance role is ideal for a skilled communicator with a passion for conservation, a flair for storytelling, and a strong understanding of how marketing strategies convert into donor support, sponsorships, grant success, and sales.

You will work closely with our CEO and program leads to elevate our visibility and impact, align messaging with our fundraising strategy, and deliver compelling campaigns that activate supporters and attract investment in our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy that aligns with our fundraising, partnership, and supporter engagement goals.
  • Deliver targeted campaigns that support revenue-generating activities including major donor engagement, government grant visibility, philanthropic outreach, event promotion, and sponsorship acquisition.
  • Create and curate engaging content (blogs, social media, eDMs, multimedia, etc.) that tells the story of research, conservation work, and community impact.
  • Lead digital communications across web and social platforms; maintain website content and supporter journeys.
  • Work with internal teams to prepare compelling materials for donors, funders, and media—including pitch decks, case studies, newsletters, event collateral, and annual reporting.
  • Monitor analytics to assess impact and produce quarterly insights to inform ongoing strategy.
  • Respond to media and community inquiries, and manage proactive PR to elevate our profile.
Requirements

Experience: Proven experience as a Marketing and Communications Manager or similar role, preferably in a non-profit environment.

Skills: Strong marketing and communication skills, with experience in developing and implementing successful campaigns. Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Ability to think creatively and strategically. Proficient in digital communication tools such as email marketing software, social media management tools, and content management systems.

Education: Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
