Marketing Communications Specialist - Flexible Opportunity

A dynamic and strategic Marketing Communications Specialist is sought to drive the delivery of communications that directly support external communications, fundraising, and revenue development goals.

About the Role

This part-time freelance role is ideal for a skilled communicator with a passion for conservation, a flair for storytelling, and a strong understanding of marketing and digital engagement strategies that convert into donor support, sponsorships, grant success, and sales.

The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to elevate visibility and impact, align messaging with fundraising strategy, and deliver compelling campaigns that activate supporters and attract investment in mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy that aligns with Institute goals.
  • Deliver targeted campaigns that support revenue-generating activities including major donor engagement, government grant visibility, philanthropic outreach, ticketed event promotion, and sponsorship acquisition.
  • Create and curate engaging content (blogs, social media, eDMs, multimedia, etc.) that tells the story of research, conservation work, and community impact.
  • Lead digital communications across web and social platforms; maintain website content and supporter journeys.
  • Work with internal teams to prepare compelling materials for donors, funders, and media—including pitch decks, case studies, newsletters, event collateral, and annual reporting.
  • Monitor analytics to assess impact and produce quarterly insights to inform ongoing strategy.
  • Respond to inquiries and manage proactive public relations to elevate profile.
