Cancer Care Nurse Specialist

The role of the Clinical Nurse Consultant - McGrath Cancer Care Nurse (MCCN) involves developing clinical practice aligned with the McGrath Model of Care and cancer services at NBH. The MCCN oversees the coordination of the cancer journey for patients receiving treatment at NBH, aiming to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a role model and expert clinician in gastrointestinal cancer services.
  • Engage directly with patients to assist in planning investigations, treatments, supportive care, and referrals.
  • Provide expert clinical advice to patients, families, and healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
  • Support multidisciplinary care for inpatients and outpatients, including participation in Multidisciplinary Meetings (MDMs).
  • Coordinate education for patients and carers.
  • Lead the development and delivery of evidence-based nursing practices.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration.
  • Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in the specialty field.
  • Minimum of 5 years full-time post-registration experience, including at least 3 years in oncology, palliative care, or cancer-specific nursing.

  • Experience working within the private health system.
