Aboriginal Practitioner Role

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team as Taikurtirna Warri-apinthi Practitioners in the Aboriginal Practice Directorate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure Aboriginal children and young people remain connected to their families, community, culture, and identity.
  • Develop a work plan to engage and prepare family networks and identify supports with wraparound services that may be needed.
  • Provide culturally appropriate information to support prevention plans for DCP staff.
  • Maintain a lifelong support network for Aboriginal children and young people while ensuring child safety.
  • Monitor and support individuals' coping abilities while strengthening Aboriginal families through connection advocacy.
  • Visit families to work and identify family placements and supports.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Identify and respond to the needs and risks of children and young people.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of development stages, vulnerability, and resilience.
  • Have an understanding of context factors to identify individual child or young person needs.
