About the Opportunity

Burke Shire Council is seeking a visionary leader to guide the organisation through a critical period of community recovery, infrastructure delivery and regional growth. Located in one of the most remote local government areas in Australia, the council delivers a range of services including civil infrastructure, utilities and corporate governance.

The ideal candidate will have strong governance, risk and financial management capabilities, with experience in complex highly regulated environments. They will be able to foster a high-performance culture within a multidisciplinary team and engage with all levels of government, industry partners and the wider community.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of the council's long-term strategic objectives, leading the management and delivery of multi-million dollar flood recovery and capital works, and representing the council with visibility, integrity and authenticity.
