Job Opportunity

We are seeking two experienced investigators to contribute to the Child Safeguarding team, a specialist regulatory team responsible for assessing and investigating allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct in early childhood education and care services.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals who share a common goal of ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

About the Role

The Senior Regulatory Officers will contribute to the team's targeted response work, including:

  • Queensland's contribution to the national response to the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority's Child Safety Review
  • Queensland's continuation of the response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
  • Queensland's implementation of the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme

This work involves collaborating with leading academic experts in protective behaviours and situational and contextual crime prevention measures. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in this area.

Responsibilities

The Senior Regulatory Officer will be responsible for:

  • Assessing notifications, complaints, and intelligence to identify risks of harm to children and develop effective risk mitigation strategies
  • Working with external authorities and sector stakeholders to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct and suspected non-compliance with legislation
  • Producing high-level documentation and providing advice and support to other regulatory staff
  • Contributing to internal administrative and statutory reviews of investigations and enforcement actions
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of regulatory policy and practice

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience as an investigator or in a human services role
  • Ability to assess and address risk, particularly in the context of child protection
  • Collaborative working skills and ability to work with complex legislation
