About the Team

The Trade Compliance team forms part of the multidisciplinary Legal and Commercial team at Rheinmetall. The team is functionally responsible for Trade Compliance, Intellectual Property, Insurance, Commercial and Legal and works closely with senior stakeholders and board members across the business. The team is located in Redbank in Ipswich and Melbourne.

About The Role

The Trade Compliance team plays a critical role in ensuring Rheinmetall Defence Australia Pty Ltd meets its regulatory and commercial obligations lawfully. As the Trade Compliance Senior Specialist, you will provide subject matter expertise to your assigned project teams in relation to their import and export control needs. You will also provide guidance and assistance relating to their access to and management of controlled technology. You will be responsible for applications for and management of any required permits and licences to cover their activities.

This role has the flexibility to offer a range of working schedules including full-time, part-time or individuals that are seeking to work school hours.

Day-to-day Responsibilities
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on requirements and obligations in dealing with defence articles, technical data and defence services under the ITAR, EAR, and Australian and non-US control regimes.
  • Identifying licensing requirements for assigned projects to manage regulatory risks.
  • Ensuring products and technical data are marked and handled correctly, and that RDA has required approvals in place for technical data and goods.
  • Providing guidance to project teams regarding access to controlled technology.
  • Preparing and delivering export control training.
  • Assisting with Trade Compliance reporting (e.g., contract reviews, project status).
  • Providing advice and guidance to internal and external customers on trade compliance regulations, RDA policies and procedures, relevant documentation, license management and record keeping.
Qualifications
  • Practical experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, supply chain or export control within defence, aerospace or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of Australian export control legislation (DTCA, DSGL, Customs Act 1901, Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011).
  • Strong working knowledge of the U.S. ITAR and EAR (especially deemed exports and re-exports).
  • Ability to travel internationally and interstate when required.
  • Eligibility to obtain an NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
