Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated policy officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing policies that address key issues in the government's priorities.

The role involves working closely with stakeholders, including state and territory governments, to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of reports and briefings to Ministers, submissions to Cabinet, Inquiries, and general correspondence.
  • Analysis of key trends and data to inform policy decisions.
  • Engagement with sector stakeholders and state government officials to build relationships and understand their needs.
  • Preparation of senate estimates briefs, question time briefs, questions on notice, and other parliamentary documents.
  • Representation of the team at internal and external forums, meetings, or presentations.
  • Leading policy development, implementing program management, and coordinating branch-related policies.
  • Anticipating and identifying policy issues, undertaking research and analysis (including data analysis), and recommending solutions to policy questions.
  • Supporting corporate planning and responding to ANAO reviews and audits.
  • Maintaining productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and non-government agencies.
