Graduate Town Planner Role Overview

The role of Graduate Town Planner offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to apply their planning knowledge in a practical setting and build foundational skills in statutory planning, development assessment, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide information on planning and development matters through the Council's Duty Planner service.
  • Prepare assessment reports and determinations on development applications and subdivision certificates.
  • Undertake site inspections and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholder feedback on development matters.
  • Respond to enquiries at the customer service counter, via email, and by phone.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or nearing completion.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of relevant Acts, statutory planning processes, and customer service delivery.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and professionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Class C Driver's Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia.
  • Prior experience in local government or development assessment is an advantage.
