Public Information Manager

This role involves developing and implementing effective communications strategies that support community safety.
- The successful candidate will lead on public information in line with Directorate and whole-of-government policies and expectations.
The Assistant Director, Public Information will work closely with frontline emergency staff, ESA executives, volunteers, and team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality information and education to the community.
This is a front-line role that requires prompt and constructive action during Territory Emergency Incidents. The position may require occasional weekend and after-hours work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and executing campaigns to engage stakeholders and deliver critical information to the public
- Managing media events and coordinating responses to media inquiries
- Leading on public information initiatives in line with Directorate and whole-of-government policies and expectations
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in communications or a related field
- Experience working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments such as emergency services
- An understanding of direct media liaison, preferably with the ACT media
- Current Working with Vulnerable People registration
