Information Management Officer Position at DVSC
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Information Officer to join the Defence and Veterans' Service Commission. In this role, you will work under direction to lead and coordinate information and records management functions across the organisation. You will apply specialist knowledge to ensure compliance with legislation and policies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of information governance. This position involves a mix of strategic and operational work, including policy development, stakeholder engagement, project delivery and systems administration.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate information and records management activities in accordance with the Archives Act 1983 and agency policies
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to staff on information governance, including classification, retention, disposal and digital recordkeeping
  • Administer and maintain the organisation's Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) and associated tools
  • Collaborate with shared services provider on information management requirements
  • Monitor compliance with information management policies and practices
  • Deliver training and awareness initiatives
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of information and records management principles, practices and legislation
  • Experience with EDRMS platforms and information governance
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation and policies to complex information management issues
  • Highly developed analytical, research and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in an information management role within the public sector
Eligibility
  • Australian citizenship
  • Security clearance: Negative Vetting Level 2 (Top Secret)
  • Pre-employment screening checks: Australian Criminal History Check
About the Role

The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
