**Member Advocate Role**

The Member Rights Team is seeking a dedicated individual to work in Perth.

This role can be offered in a full-time capacity or permanent part-time. We are driving change by growing union membership, developing leadership amongst our members, encouraging active member participation, building and enforcing standards, and campaigning politically and in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide industrial advice over the phone to members on employment matters
  • Support members in grievances, employment entitlements, and performance/conduct matters
  • Represent members and the union in collective and individual meetings
  • Centre the member's experience and contribute to achieving the Union's goals
  • Evaluate and uphold the Union's values of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Selection Criteria:

  • A passion to improve workers' lives and achieve the Union's goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with union members and employer representatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under time constraints
  • Ability to develop new skills and participate in the union's political and social justice agenda

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Practical experience in Industrial Relations
  • Ability to interpret and analyse legal information
  • Experience in the union movement or social justice movements/organisations

To perform this job, you will need to have or obtain:

  • Right of Entry Permits
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Immunisation against COVID-19 or medical exemption

Remuneration includes salary commensurate with skills and experience, 16% superannuation, and 6 weeks annual leave plus 25% leave loading.
