Account Manager Job Description

The Account Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering strategic growth and account retention for major government, corporate, mining, and corporate travel accounts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing administrative tasks to support customer and internal contract rate approval and reporting requirements
  • Providing exceptional customer service by offering consistently high-level service to existing contracts with a view to retaining the business for the long term
  • Proactively pursuing the acquisition of profitable new business through sales leads, researching new opportunities for lead generation, and telephone prospecting activities
  • Preparing rate strategies and presenting contract proposals using negotiation skills to strategically obtain the best outcome for the business while balancing customer needs
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with corporate travel management companies to sustain existing accounts and maximize their potential as a referral source of new business
  • Maintaining and seeking to improve the company's competitive position and profitability
  • Analysing and collating data on customer patterns and competitor activity to uncover growth opportunities and predict future trends
  • Communicating positively and proactively with assigned Sales Support teams, Operations, and departments at all levels within the business

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Field Sales, account management, working with a travel management company or managing corporate customers in an operational/logistics environment
  • Proven track record in exceeding KPIs and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced and changing business environment
  • Strong and professional communication skills (verbal & written) and attention to detail
  • Possess strategic thinking skills and ability to challenge the status quo
  • Relationship-building and negotiation skills
  • Ability to travel several times per year within the assigned territory and occasionally elsewhere interstate if required
