The Role
We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Engineer to join our team as a Technical Lead. As a key member of our National Plant team, you'll play a crucial role in providing technical leadership and expertise to support the smooth operation of our plant and rolling stock.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the Plant Operations team to enhance their capabilities in diagnostics, maintenance, and fault rectification.
- Ensure that our rail plant and equipment comply with technical specifications, legislation, and engineering approvals.
- Lead technical investigations and defect analysis, setting standards for investigation and reporting of complex plant faults.
- Develop specifications and undertake minor design, monitoring and recommending changes to increase productivity and safety.
- Assess compliance of rolling stock with technical specifications, legislation, and relevant standards.
- Manage plant design specifications, modifications, and configuration changes, ensuring they are subject to Modification Management Change (MMC) and validation and approval of change.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative safety, risk assessment to inform decisions on the suitability of rolling stock and on-track plant and equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechatronics).
- Demonstrated post-graduate engineering experience with strong site-based experience and a proven approach to engineering and risk management.
- Appreciation of rail safety and technical requirements, governance, and risks impacting the performance of rolling stock in different rail systems.
- Project-wide level planning, development, and review of complex projects, with a focus on quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk management.
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- People and performance management, including subcontractor performance.
- Effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated extensive technical knowledge of plant and equipment systems.
- Strong computer literacy, including familiarity with MS Office software, Maximo CMMS, and CAD.
