Job Overview

The role of Groundwater Modelling Team Lead is a unique opportunity to oversee the growth and delivery of our groundwater modelling practice.

As part of our APAC Hydrology and Hydrogeology team, you will be responsible for leading a virtual team of 11 people across Brisbane, Melbourne, and Wollongong offices.

You will collaborate closely with state-based groundwater and surface water team leaders to deliver client solutions and work directly with technical discipline managers to implement business plans aligned with strategic priorities.

With a solid backlog and pipeline of work thanks to our focus on technical excellence, practical solutions, and strong client relationships, this role offers a chance to make a significant impact in the industry.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the national Groundwater Modelling team to deliver and grow the Groundwater Modelling Practice.
  • Collaborate with state-based groundwater and surface water team leaders to deliver client solutions.
  • Work with technical discipline managers to implement business plans aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Engage in technical project work and contribute to winning work by leveraging client relationships and business development acumen.
  • Mentor junior staff, overseeing quality of reports, and ensuring timely delivery within budgets.
  • Support collaboration with related technical staff to deliver integrated project solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 7-20+ years' industry experience as a hydrogeologist, including consultancy experience.
  • Engineering or Science tertiary qualification.
  • Strong technical background in numerical modelling, hydrogeological conceptualisation, groundwater impact assessment, and hydrogeological investigation.
  • Thorough understanding of Australian groundwater legislation and guidelines relevant to resource development and infrastructure.
  • Strong commitment to Health and Safety.
  • Experience managing and delivering large technical projects, particularly complex groundwater modelling projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, self-motivation, and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff in preparing quality reports on time and within budget.
  • Experience collaborating with related technical staff to deliver project solutions.
