Network Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our organization in Sydney. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, implementing and testing IP network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive engineering network design documentation
  • Perform thorough assessment of existing network elements and implement design updates as required
  • Stay abreast of technology advancements and develop appraisal reviews where applicable
  • Specify, define and document design processes, standards and practices related to data networks
  • Interface to coordinate and resolve network design and/or process related issues
  • Provide reports as input to the preparation for annual network plans
  • Act as a primary technical interface with technology providers
  • Provide coaching/mentoring for less experienced team members
  • Provide lab setup and perform testing
  • Perform configuration deployments to production devices
  • Generation of network design, testing and implementation documentation
  • Provide recommendations concerning technical solutions and IP network strategy
  • Creation of technical training material and delivery of training/presentation to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Building personal and professional relationships necessary to operate as a trusted technical expert
  • Balancing conflicting technical requirements
  • Developing technical scoping documentation from product requirements
  • Communicating complex technology solutions to other technical staff

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical qualification (degree) in Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
  • Cisco/Juniper certification (desirable)
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in telecommunications
  • At least 5 years' experience in an IP Network Design role
  • Cisco/Juniper Router configuration experience
  • Product development and/or customer design experience
  • Experience in liaising with middle and senior management
  • Experience with network test tools/procedures
  • Good documentation skills
  • Experience in the telecommunications provider environment
  • Sound knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing/Switching, MPLS, Traffic Engineering, EoMPLS, L2 and L3 datacentre technologies
