About Us

We don't see a job as just a job. We see it as an opportunity for a better, more secure, and more stable life.

About the Opportunity

As a Career Coach for Parents, you will play a vital role in supporting parents to achieve their educational and career goals, contributing to their long-term economic security.

You will provide comprehensive support, empowering and encouraging parents throughout the program.

Your Key Responsibilities

  3. Identify and address barriers to employment by referring participants to relevant community support services and providing ongoing mentoring.
  4. Facilitate job placements with local employers for job-ready participants and provide continuous support to ensure lasting employment success.
  5. Work both independently and collaboratively to exceed KPI targets, driving team and personal success.
  6. Ensure all tasks are executed in full compliance with Department guidelines, legislative requirements, and organisational procedures and policies.

About You

  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in fields such as Employment Services, Community Services, or similar areas (Cert III/IV or willing to obtain for Mentors, minimum Diploma level for Senior Mentors).
  • Previous experience in employment services or other relevant support services, including advanced barrier management, reverse marketing, placement of candidates into employment, and provision of post-placement support and verification will be highly regarded.
  • Relevant lived experience would be highly valued, as it enriches our support for participants experiencing barriers, whilst navigating a complex system. Your personal journey will bring empathy, understanding, and empowerment to those we serve.
  • Demonstrated success in a high-performing workplace with a strong commitment to high-quality values-based human services.
  • Advanced conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed skills in customer service, coaching, and administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong computer literacy skills, including proficiency using MS Suite of programs.
  • Must hold a Driver's licence and a Working with Children Check or relevant state equivalent (or are willing to apply for a WWCC).
  • Applicants will be required to undertake a police check; it is not mandatory to have a clear criminal history.

In Return, We Offer

  1. An attractive remuneration package, including NFP salary packaging benefits ($15,900 tax-free + meal and entertainment benefits).
  2. A great work-life balance with an opportunity for a 9-day fortnight or an accrued day off every four weeks.
  3. Comprehensive and supportive on-the-job training, including the opportunity to undertake tertiary education relevant to your position.
  4. Discounted fitness memberships, health insurance, retail discounts, and more.
  5. Attractive leave benefits with access to purchased leave, twelve weeks paid Parental Leave, and up to five days paid leave per year to support Salvos volunteering.
  6. Access to free counselling and health & wellness initiatives, fostering a supportive and inclusive approach to your psychosocial health.
  7. Long-term employment opportunities within Employment Plus and the wider Salvos network.
