Job Title: Principal Advisor Government EngagementRole Overview

The role is based in either Canberra or Sydney, with regular travel required for a period of six months. As a member of AEMO's Government Engagement team, the role will work with colleagues within the team and across AEMO to facilitate extensive engagement with government across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the execution of government engagement strategic objectives.
  2. Establish and build on relationships of trust and credibility with governments.
  3. Support the preparation, organisation and review of papers, briefings, policies, and reports.
  4. Monitor and report on emerging government issues; manage government-related events, issues, and briefings; and be the point of contact for government.
Requirements
  1. Demonstrated experience in a position of similar remit undertaking government relations within Australia in a complex, issues-rich environment.
  2. Experience and knowledge of Australia's electricity and gas sectors.
  3. Detailed understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising at senior Departmental and Ministerial office level, with preference for Federal experience.
  4. Strong networks and reputation established with governments, with preference for Federal government.
Education
  1. Tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, economics, law or related discipline, or significant experience of parity.
