Job Summary


This role is a key support position for the School of Medicine, Sydney, working in collaboration with academic and professional colleagues to provide effective and efficient laboratory support for the MD program.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provide technical, operational, and administrative support for teaching and promotional activities within the school.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of laboratories to ensure laboratory operations are running effectively.
  • Prepare, set up, and pack down the laboratory/teaching spaces and classroom materials to support learning and teaching activities in the School.
  • Assist with the coordination, organization, and preparation of resources required for learning and teaching activities, including the purchase of equipment and laboratory consumables.
  • Maintain stock, including the storage and handling of hazardous substances in accordance with University and legislative guidelines.
  • Responsible for servicing of equipment and ensuring it is functional and safe to use.
  • Establish and maintain safety documentation such as risk assessments, safety audits, and standard operating procedures for laboratory and field activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including equity, health and safety, and exhibit good practice.
  • Maintain fair, ethical, and professional work practices in accordance with the University Code of Conduct.
  • Comply with all other reasonable training and duties as identified by the line manager or delegate.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:




  • A degree without subsequent relevant work experience, or completion of an advanced diploma qualification and at least 1 year's subsequent relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience, preferably in tertiary or higher education sectors.
  • Experience in the demonstration and use of equipment in a learning and teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining equipment inventory, including its servicing.
  • Excellent operational, organizational, and administration skills, including the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • A high level of competency in various software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite and student administration systems.
  • The ability to collaborate across multifunctional teams, providing a high-level and responsive service.
  • The ability to supervise students in laboratories, including outside of regular teaching hours where required.


About You

We offer a competitive salary range of $84,837 to $93,296 per annum (Level 5) + 14.25% superannuation pro rata, along with generous training and development opportunities, a friendly and collaborative working environment, and fast-paced environment with opportunity for professional growth.
