About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Laboratory Support Specialist at The University of Notre Dame Australia.

As a key member of our School of Medicine, Sydney, you will provide technical, operational, and administrative support for teaching and promotional activities.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring they run effectively and efficiently.

You will also prepare, set up, and pack down laboratory and teaching spaces, and assist with the coordination and organization of resources required for learning and teaching activities.

We are looking for someone with demonstrated laboratory experience, preferably in tertiary or higher education sectors, and excellent operational, organizational, and administration skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical, operational, and administrative support for teaching and promotional activities within the school.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day activities of laboratories to ensure laboratory operations are running effectively.
  • Prepare, set up, and pack down the laboratory/teaching spaces and classroom materials to support learning and teaching activities in the School.
  • Assist with the coordination, organisation and preparation of resources required for learning and teaching activities including the purchase of equipment and laboratory consumables.
  • Maintain stock, including the storage and handling of hazardous substances in accordance with University and legislative guidelines; responsible for servicing of equipment and ensuring it is functional and safe to use.
  • Establish and maintain safety documentation such as risk assessments, safety audits and standard operating procedures for laboratory and field activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including equity, health and safety and exhibit good practice.
About You

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Support Specialist who possesses a degree or equivalent qualification and relevant work experience. You should have a high level of competency in various software packages, including Microsoft Office Suite and student administration systems.

You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multifunctional teams and provide a high level of responsive service.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $84,837 to $93,296 per annum (pro rata), plus 14.25% superannuation. You will also have access to generous training and development opportunities and a friendly and collaborative working environment.
