Healius seeks a highly motivated individual to lead our hospital laboratory team. This full-time role operates 24/7, and while you won't work a traditional 24/7 roster, be prepared to support your colleagues when needed.
About the RoleThis is a hands-on position requiring a blend of leadership and technical skills. As Laboratory Manager, you will supervise medical scientists and lab assistants in a multi-disciplinary setting (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation/Blood Bank). Your responsibilities include:
- Supervising laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and effective result delivery.
- Performing laboratory work as required to maintain expertise and support the team.
- Prioritizing tasks to meet client requirements and deadlines.
- Liaising with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual results.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring routine maintenance is performed.
- Reviewing and updating laboratory documentation as necessary.
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A tertiary degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent qualification.
- AIMS accreditation and at least 3 years' experience in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build partnerships and communicate effectively.
- The ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize competing demands.
- Results-oriented and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Proven organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent confidentiality and integrity.
