We are seeking a skilled professional to support individuals and families affected by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. The role involves conducting assessments and delivering evidence-based counselling to reduce AOD-related harm, support behaviour change, and promote recovery.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will possess a tertiary qualification in a health or welfare related discipline. They will also bring with them relevant experience working with Aboriginal communities, an understanding of systemic issues, and AOD or dual diagnosis counselling experience.

About the Role

  • This is a max term full time position until February 2026.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in a health or welfare related discipline. Relevant qualifications include:

  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Nursing
  • Allied Health Sciences
  • Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or completion of core AOD competencies within 24 months of employment.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities
  • An understanding of systemic issues, such as racism and colonialism
  • AOD or dual diagnosis counselling experience
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of therapies including CBT, MET, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Practice, Narrative Therapy, Family Inclusive Practice, and Community Reinforcement
