Senior Instrumentation and Control Systems Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. This role will involve designing and specifying general instrumentation, valves, and DCS/PLC-based control systems for various mining and metals projects.
About the Role
- This position will report to the Control Systems & Instrumentation Engineering Group Supervisor and will be responsible for providing CS&I engineering and design support to Bechtel projects seamlessly and with high quality.
- The successful candidate will work on a 12-month short-term assignment in Helsinki, Finland.
Responsibilities
- Designing material handling and process plant instrumentation for small, medium, and large-scale projects.
- Preparing, evaluating, and packaging engineering of Scope of Services for Plant Control Systems, Telecommunications, and Instrumentation Packages.
- Developing study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications, functional specification, and datasheets.
- Selecting and specifying instrumentation in accordance with equipment datasheets.
- Designing and modifying panel layouts, schematic wiring, and termination diagrams for industrial control systems.
- Developing changeover plans for brownfield control system upgrades.
- Designing PLC and Remote IO control systems.
- Designing and laying out plant control rooms.
- Locating and arranging DCS and other control cabinets within plants.
- Participating in design and hazard reviews.
- Reviewing supplier documentation to ensure project specifications are met.
- Mentoring and assisting junior instrumentation and control system engineers.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with functional safety systems and TUV certification is highly regarded.
Skills and Qualifications
- A degree in engineering, demonstrated experience, and CPEng status and current RPEQ.
- Demonstrated experience in Control System/Instrumentation Engineering.
- Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with safety requirements.
- Demonstrated design and engineering experience in mining, processing plant, or oil and gas industries.
- Current knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and study criteria pertinent to instrumentation and control systems engineering ensuring compliance of design work with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.
- Smart Instrumentation experience is favorable.
