- Oversee freight, warehouse workers, linehaul allocations & drivers to ensure effective warehouse and linehaul operations.
The role is responsible for supervising frontline linehaul operations, ensuring all freight is sorted and distributed to customers within designated timeslots. The supervisor optimises the usage of company and subcontractor equipment/resources in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Dispatching, routing, and tracking of freight
- Managing vehicles entering and departing the depot, ensuring compliance with standards and legal requirements
- Unloading and loading vehicles in accordance with policies and procedures, prioritising safety
- Managing line-haul vehicles to meet scheduled loading and departure timeframes
- Ensuring speed compliance of Linehaul drivers
- Communicating freight movement to ensure systematic and consistent freight sortation
- Managing inbound/outbound vehicles to ensure freight is sorted according to scheduled loading and departure timeframes
- Proactively managing vehicles and equipment in a cost-effective and resourceful manner, achieving efficient use of warehouse capabilities
Required skills and qualifications:
- Well-developed administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels
- Acute listening, time management, and problem-solving skills, with flexibility, adaptability, and versatility in handling changing work requirements
- Maintaining accuracy across all transport functions
- Tact, discretion, diplomacy, and negotiating skills
- Planning and coordinating activities to provide efficient services
- Solid knowledge of the transport industry and freight handling processes
