Senior Engineering Lead Opportunity

A challenging role has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Lead to join our team at a well-established Underground Longwall operation. Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you will bring technical expertise, strong leadership and strategic thinking to drive engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coach a high-performing engineering team across mechanical, electrical and support disciplines.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and contributing to a positive safety culture.
  • Oversee the implementation and performance of maintenance and reliability strategies to drive safe and cost-effective solutions.
  • Manage budgets, cost reviews and contribute to annual mine planning processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement, digitalisation and innovation in engineering practices.
  • Embed a positive safety culture across engineering operations and contribute to major projects and performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • NSW Practising Certificate as Manager of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Underground Coal).
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior engineering or leadership position within underground coal mining.
  • A strong understanding of HSEC and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Sound commercial acumen and experience managing budgets and engineering systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS, reliability-centred maintenance and digital systems is desirable.
  • Risk Management and ICAM (incident investigation) qualifications are advantageous.
