Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Operations Support Specialist to join our team at Industrial Light & Magic. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch technical assistance to our users.

About the Role

The Technical Operations Support Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to Windows, SCCM, CentOS Linux, macOS, MS Office, email, internet connections, and hardware/peripherals IT systems. You will work closely with our production engineers to install and configure software, troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning software, and administer mail systems, system installation, and configuration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently install and configure software in a Linux and Windows environment.
  • Manage end-user expectations and systems issues using technical and client service skills.
  • Administer mail systems, system installation and configuration, printing systems, and third-party software.
  • Set up and upgrade computer systems in a networked environment with minimal end-user interruption.
  • Properly integrate devices such as printers, scanners, and digitizing tablets with Linux, Macintosh, and Windows systems.
  • Analyze existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and propose achievable solutions.
  • Actively participate in ongoing process creation, improvement discussions, and projects in both an individual and group setting.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management regarding break-fix expectations and changes.
  • Research and recommend hardware and software solutions as needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or years of desktop support experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Excellent understanding of technology and the role of the client in relation to the larger IT infrastructure.
  • Strong skills in Linux operating systems (CentOS primarily), command line experience required, remote management, and scripting experience helpful.
  • Windows 7 or 10 operating systems experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and friendly with coworkers.
  • Self-starter, energetic, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Team player that strives to maximize team/department performance.

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
