Job Overview

The DNA Management Section is part of the Forensic Services Group, responsible for efficient and effective DNA management services. The section liaises closely with Forensic Science Queensland to ensure investigative outcomes are achieved.

Your Key Accountabilities:

  • Process Management - Manage and review processes by liaison with senior investigators and DNA laboratory management.
  • Research and Development - Lead, manage and participate in research, analysis and development of forensic examination strategies.
  • Issue Resolution - Undertake action to resolve complex issues with DNA processes to finalise forensic investigations.
  • Advice Provision - Prepare and provide authoritative, strategic and operational written and oral advice on the use of DNA evidence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Staff Development - Mentor, support, monitor and train staff in relation to establishment of work priorities and adherence to legislation, policies and procedures.
Key Requirements

Technical/Operational/Educational experience:

  • Experience as a forensic officer or criminal investigator is highly desirable.
Additional Information

This is a temporary position until further notice. Public service officers from other agencies will be seconded for the period concerned. The successful applicant/s will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.

Applicants may be exposed to material of a graphic and sensitive nature. The successful applicant/s will be required to work within QPS Headquarters and FSQ.

Applications remain current for 12 months.
