Job Title: Workplace Relations Advisor

The Victorian Department of Health plays a pivotal role in shaping the health system to meet the diverse needs of all Victorians.

This is part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life.

We focus on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks or accelerating medical research.

The successful candidate will have a hands-on approach to resolving complex workplace relations matters and take an advanced role in identifying emerging workplace relations risks and actively intervening to promote positive outcomes.

Through provision of high-level advice, the role will also play an important part in partnering with internal stakeholders to provide guidance, support and drive strategic change across employment-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop significant employment-related policy, including preparing and coordinating detailed reports and briefings, responding to correspondence and undertaking research.
  • Develop and review HR policies and providing policy advice and supporting leaders across the department to manage complex workplace relations issues.

Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Problem-solving skills, able to resolve issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines.
  • Innovation and continuous improvement skills, able to review, analyse and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A tertiary qualification in employment law, human resources, industrial relations or other relevant field.
  • Knowledge of current industrial relations issues as they relate to the health services field, industrial legislation and enterprise agreements.
  • Proven ability in providing industrial relations advice and as an industrial relations researcher, negotiator and advocate.
