Lead Engineering Team at Underground Coal Mining Operation

We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team at an established underground longwall operation. As part of the senior leadership team, you will bring technical expertise, strong leadership, and strategic thinking to drive safety, performance, and sustainability.

About the Role:
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team, ensuring compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental obligations.
  • Oversee the implementation and performance of maintenance and reliability strategies.
  • Manage engineering budgets and contribute to annual mine planning processes.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership: Provide vision, direction, and guidance to the engineering team to achieve business objectives.
  2. Technical Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles to drive innovation and improvement.
  3. People Management: Foster a positive safety culture, develop high-performing teams, and promote collaboration across departments.
  4. Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, digitalization, and asset management.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • NSW Practising Certificate as Manager of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Underground Coal).
  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Project Management.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior engineering or leadership position within underground coal mining.
