This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires the skills of a school psychologist to support students with complex educational needs.


About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced school psychologist to join our team as a specialist consultant. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with teachers, parents and other stakeholders to develop effective intervention programs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist consultation, evidence-based assessment and interventions that contribute to system-level understandings;
  • Develop and evaluate contemporary approaches and interventions;
  • Communicate and clarify complex concepts, provide feedback and critical evaluation of the management of complex and challenging issues;
  • BUILD capacity, influence systemic policy and undertake interventions and prevention programs;
  • Coordinate specialised support and provide professional learning to various audiences;
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team;

Eligibility Criteria
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment;
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start;
  • Hold general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • Complete the Department's training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
  • Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement;

Demonstrated high-level knowledge and experience in providing specialist consultation, evidence-based assessment and interventions that contribute to system-level understandings; Demonstrated highly developed skills in applying specialist knowledge and the development and evaluation of contemporary approaches and interventions; Demonstrated high-level ability to communicate and clarify complex concepts, provide feedback and critical evaluation of the management of complex and challenging issues; Demonstrated high-level strategic leadership skills and ability to build capacity, influence systemic policy and undertake interventions and prevention programs; Demonstrated high-level experience in coordinating specialised support and in providing professional learning to various audiences; Demonstrated high-level oral, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
