Lawyer Job Description

The role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to both the public and private sectors, with a focus on regulatory agencies and law enforcement. The Legal team at AUSTRAC supports the agency in its various functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert legal advice on regulatory, administrative law, and public sector governance issues.
  • Contribute to the development of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) policy and guidance.
  • Support AUSTRAC's privacy and Freedom of Information functions.
  • Manage partner agency requests for affidavit and witness statements.
  • Act as a liaison between specified business areas within the agency.
Requirements:
  • Australian citizenship is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of post-admission experience is required.
  • Applicants should possess demonstrated skills and experience in statutory interpretation, administrative law, and complex civil litigation.
