Job Summary

This rewarding role involves providing clinical leadership in our behavioural health department, overseeing psychiatric services, and ensuring exceptional standards of care for patients. As a key member of our team, you will shape treatment strategies, mentor clinical staff, and contribute to enhancing the overall quality of mental health services within our organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct psychiatric care, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with mental health disorders
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans addressing patients' physical and mental health needs
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures promoting evidence-based practices and patient safety
  • Foster ongoing training and education for staff on current psychiatric practices, emerging trends, and therapeutic interventions
  • Advocate for patients' needs, ensuring they receive appropriate resources and support throughout their treatment journey
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: A medical qualification enabling registration with AHPRA or MCNZ, followed by specialist psychiatry training with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
  • Licensure: Current board certification in Psychiatry and active medical licensure in Australia
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing clinical staff
  • Clinical Skills: Expertise in evidence-based psychiatric assessment and treatment, including medication management and therapeutic interventions
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to utilise data to inform clinical decisions and enhance service delivery
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of and sensitivity to the cultural and social factors impacting mental health care
