Cyber Security and Risk Manager

Talison is a world-leading lithium minerals producer. Information Systems and Technology (IST) comprises Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT). IST focuses on technologies that improve control and decision-making associated with operations, maintenance, and support services.

The strategy involves developing clear outcomes for IT and OT projects through close consultation with stakeholders and an excellent understanding of technology capabilities and limitations. IST's remit includes selecting, implementing, and supporting data production systems and process control systems (PCS), PCS and data standards, OT servers and network, IT and OT cybersecurity, data systems, and PCS stand-alone projects. Additionally, IST supports end-users with required hardware and software, networking, and user support.

About the Role

This newly created role will head a standalone cyber security and IST risk team. The ideal candidate is an experienced Cyber Security leader who can provide input and genuine influence over the direction and strategy of cybersecurity capability across the largest hard rock lithium miner in the world.

The role is based in Perth, with occasional travel to Site in Greenbushes required.

The key responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering the Cyber Security Strategy to identify the required roadmap of projects and initiatives to increase and improve Cyber resilience, maturity, and security posture.
• Aligning Talison's approach to the chosen Cyber Security Frameworks.
• Managing a small team maintaining and/or implementing information security policies and procedures.
• Managing the development, deployment, and execution of controls and defences to ensure the security and risk mitigation of company infrastructure technology and information systems.
• Identifying security architecture, goals, objectives, and metrics; analysing business needs and priorities for protecting critical systems.
• Managing security programs and assurance, including threat and vulnerabilities management, incident response management, and management of forensic investigations.
• Developing and executing security system compliance policies and procedures.
• Informing the review and refinement of policies, procedures, and processes owned and managed by IST.
• Defining reporting metrics and implementing reporting and control of these metrics for IST and Risk & Governance teams.
• Working with the larger IST group (IT and OT): ensuring new technologies or systems are compliant with cyber security practices, consulting, implementing, or supporting cyber security initiatives in their area, engaging with stakeholders to understand requirements, gap analysis, and assess security threats/vulnerabilities to manage business risk.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

• Previous experience as a Cyber Security Manager or in a similar role.
• Experience working with Business and IT process definition or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Previous experience building and/or running technology Security teams.
• Strong knowledge of Cyber Security Frameworks.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to collaborate effectively.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills.
• Previous involvement in embedding new processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt rapidly to a changing environment.
