Job Description

We are seeking a results-driven professional to lead a team responsible for undertaking regulatory investigations in accordance with Australian Government Inspectorate Service (AGIS) requirements. This role requires someone who is self-motivated, enjoys complex work and can operate with limited supervision.

The Assistant Director will have a leading role in undertaking a range of regulatory, compliance, inspection and strategic support activities. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and liaison skills, building rapport with people and working effectively in a self-directed environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a small team responsible for undertaking formal regulatory investigations
  • Review and assess enquiries related to alleged non-compliance with relevant legislation
  • Resolve alleged non-compliance matters in a timely manner
  • Conduct compliance and enforcement activities in line with the Compliance and Enforcement Strategy
  • Identify appropriate escalation pathways for complex non-compliance reports and matters
  • Support and guide team members during investigative activities
  • Analyze information gathered during investigations and make informed regulatory enforcement recommendations
  • Develop and foster relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
Requirements:
  • Highly developed commitment to integrity and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in investigations, enforcement and/or regulatory compliance
  • Ability to manage self and lead a team effectively
  • Capacity to work on multiple tasks while delivering various work products within deadlines
  • Highly-developed interpersonal skills and ability to work in a distributed team
  • Ability to operate in a complex environment with resilience and professionalism
Mandatory Qualifications:

A Diploma in Government Investigations or recognised equivalent.

Desirable Experience:
  • Formal qualifications in law, regulation, regulatory risk management or compliance
  • Familiarity with RVS legislation and legislative interpretation
  • Several years of experience leading and conducting investigations in regulated environments
  • Familiarity with and demonstrated history of working with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP)
