Senior Manager, Business Controls Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Business Controls to join our Wholesale Banking team at ING Bank (Australia) Limited. As a Senior Manager, Business Controls, you will be responsible for advising Wholesale Banking & Group Treasury on the identification and management of non-financial risk.

You will act as an executive-level adviser to the Ops Resilience Lead, focusing on Wholesale Bank & Group Treasury teams in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing non-financial risks, including developing and maintaining the business risk profile. Your expertise in end-to-end processes will be vital in supporting the Wholesale Bank business, and you will act as a subject matter expert on relevant compliance and regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track non-financial risk items and ensure timely action aligned to policy and procedure.
  • Provide reporting, analysis, and insights to support Wholesale Bank business leaders and the Risk and Compliance Committee in effective identification and management of non-financial risks.
  • Develop expertise in end-to-end processes supporting the Wholesale Bank business and act as a subject matter expert on relevant compliance and regulatory obligations.
  • Act as an advisor for executive-level Wholesale Bank teams in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing non-financial risks, including developing and maintaining the business risk profile and assessment of Risk in Change.
  • Play a leadership role in the Business Controls Office, helping drive the team to achieve objectives across the business.
Requirements
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance regimes associated with Wholesale Banking products.
  • Sound knowledge of Wholesale Banking systems and business processes, including banking products and operations.
  • Extensive experience in a Risk or Compliance role, either within 1st LOB or 2nd LOB.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influencing skills across a range of levels of senior management.
  • Experience in a product, operations, or embedded risk management role across Wholesale or Institutional Banking.
  • Excellent work planning and organisational skills.
