
Senior Nursing Manager

The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care in the Emergency Department.
The role leads nursing staff, ensures effective liaison between all health professionals and is responsible for the environmental and work, health, and safety management of the unit.
- Lead and direct an appropriate and safe standard of care within a multidisciplinary team for all patients within the Unit.
- Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
- As the leader of the unit, the NUM will demonstrate their capability through attitude, skills, behaviour, and attributes.
- Demonstrate broad nursing/midwifery experience and knowledge.
- Understanding and acceptance that patients are the central focus of service delivery.
- Demonstrate professional integrity; ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, enabling others.
- Cultivation of collaborative relationships and effective teamwork.
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve organisational objectives.
- Provide guidance, support, and coaching to nursing staff to enhance their practice and career development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse(Division 1).
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership/management or willingness to work towards same within 12 months of employment.
- Extensive experience in emergency nursing.
- Motivational, leadership, interpersonal, and high-level communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities, establish, and achieve agreed objectives.
