Urban Forest Manager

This is a key role within the City and Environment Directorate, focusing on the management of Canberra's public urban forest. The selected candidate will develop strategic policy and planning projects to promote best-practice urban design options.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with experience in urban forestry, landscape architecture, or a related field. They will be responsible for overseeing tree planting, maintenance, removal, and administration of the Urban Forest Act 2023.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic policy and planning projects to enhance the urban forest.
  • Lead and motivate a team to achieve individual and team outcomes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective management and protection of the urban forest.
Selection Criteria:
  • Strong background in urban forestry, landscape architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
