We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Expert to join our team at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. As a key member of our communications division, you will play a critical role in advancing Australia's interests through strategic communications.

Salary

The successful candidate will be offered a salary of $78,371 to $92,345 per annum, plus a 15.4% employer superannuation contribution.

Job Description

  • Work as part of a high-performing team to develop and implement effective communications strategies;
  • Contribute to the development of content that promotes Australia's foreign policy and trade interests;
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to gather information and insights to inform communications decisions;
  • Collaborate with external partners to build relationships and promote Australia's interests;
  • Monitor and analyze media coverage to identify trends and opportunities;
  • Develop and maintain social media presence to engage with key audiences;
  • Provide advice and support to senior leaders on communications matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field;
  • Proven experience in strategic communications, preferably in a government or international organization setting;
  • Demonstrated expertise in content development, social media engagement, and media relations;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work under pressure;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner;
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on achieving outcomes.
