Postdoctoral Researcher in Advanced AI Safety

The Department of Engineering Science at Oxford University is offering a unique opportunity to join the renowned Torr Vision Group as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. This exceptional position is ideal for individuals passionate about advancing the safety and robustness of artificial intelligence systems, particularly in multi-agent large language and vision-language models.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing capability evaluations, designing and executing attacks, and creating defensive mechanisms for safe multi-agent systems powered by large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs).

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A PhD (or near completion) in Machine Learning or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of agentic systems powered by LLMs or VLMs.
  • Experience or strong interest in safety evaluation, adversarial attacks, or defensive mechanisms in AI systems.
  • Ability to manage independent academic research and associated activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proactive and innovative mindset, eager to tackle emerging challenges in multi-agent AI safety.
