About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team at McConnell Dowell Constructors. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for managing on-site engineering functions, ensuring project engineering completion is on time and within budget, and providing technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications.
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, program workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved.
  • Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget.
  • Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings.
  • Provide accurate forecasts of costs and revenue and utilize corrective action in line with the Project JV's authority and reporting frameworks to maximize the profit margin.
  • Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier/subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements.
  • Participate in planning future requirements including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant and labor.
  • Direct site surveys and preparatory work prior to construction.
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering and specialist experience in project engineering and a working knowledge of project management. You should have a balanced knowledge in mechanical engineering with hands-on experience in a similar environment. Strong and empathetic communication skills with proven ability to engage others are essential.
