About the Role
The Technical Consultant will provide expert guidance to Claims Specialists by contributing to and driving proactive claims management. Responsibilities include supporting Claims Specialists in making timely and appropriate decisions, ensuring claims strategy is cost-effective and tailored.
You will also coach and mentor Claims Specialists to ensure sound decision-making and assist the development of legislative and regulatory knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides specialist technical and/or professional advice for the authorisation and approval of complex claims involving analysis and experience to arrive at the correct course of action
- Increase awareness of the cost and consequence of technical decisions
- Provide technical expertise and support to ensure ongoing quality decisions and outcomes
- Actively share knowledge, advise and coach others to build and develop technical capabilities to create a 'high performing team environment'
- Work collaboratively with the Technical Specialist and Leader to identify development opportunities for individuals and the team
Requirements:
- Proven experience in NSW Workers Compensation
- Experience in a technical role within personal injury insurance e.g., Technical Advisor, Technical Specialist, WPI & Litigation Specialist, IDR Specialist - preferred
- Experience in managing high risk claims areas such as litigation, WPI, Work Injury Damages, Section 39 claims, Internal Dispute Resolutions within the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme - preferred
- Experience in drafting and peer reviewing dispute notices - required
- Demonstrated understanding of current Workers Compensation Legislation - required
- Reasonable understanding of medical terminology - preferred
