Apprentice Carpenter Role

This apprenticeship offers a career path in carpentry, focusing on maintenance and repair.

As a Carpentry Apprentice, you will learn the trade through hands-on maintenance and repairs to keep our city's assets safe, functional and in working order. This role reports to the Building Maintenance Coordinator.

The Certificate III in Carpentry course at TAFE provides practical knowledge and skills related to the city's presentation. This opportunity is open to school leavers, mature age applicants and/or those who have already commenced their Certificate III in Carpentry.

  • Learn the trade through hands-on maintenance and repairs (not building new structures).
  • Repair doors, windows and fixtures; replace damaged timber.
  • Install and repair parkland furniture & equipment; fencing; minor concreting works.
  • Use hand and power tools; read maintenance plans; work safely in occupied buildings.

Key requirements include:

  • Certificate III in Carpentry course at TAFE (on-the-job and off-the-job training).
  • Open to school leavers, mature age applicants, or those who have already commenced the Certificate III in Carpentry.
  • Pre-placement Medical examination is required.
  • General Construction Induction Card prior to commencement.

Temporary full-time employment for up to 4 years with 38 hours per week and a 9 Day Fortnight.
