We work to regulate the supply of vehicles in the Australian market under the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018.

The Application Assessment and Approval section plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with this legislation by assessing certain applications for approval and providing support to businesses and individuals seeking to provide road vehicles to the Australian market.

About This Role:
  • This position leads the ROVER Level 1 Support team, which is responsible for being the primary point of contact for industry, businesses, and individuals contacting our department about the Road Vehicle Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Contribute to planning and monitoring of work processes for the team, identify development and learning opportunities for staff, and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Cohesive Team Culture: Foster a culture that encourages openness, honesty, and knowledge sharing among team members.
  • Professional Conduct: Demonstrate and encourage team members to demonstrate appropriate standards of ethical and professional behavior.
What You'll Do:
  • Manage Team: Oversee the ROVER Level 1 Support team, including a call centre with up to 7 staff and a high-volume inbox.
  • Script Maintenance: Maintain up-to-date scripts and templates.
  • Training Development: Develop training materials for ROVER Level 1.
  • Escalation Point: Respond to complex emails and calls as secondary escalation point.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders about their applications and related policy and standards.
  • Operational Discussions: Contribute to discussions regarding the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 and Road Vehicle Standards Rules 2019.
  • Reporting: Provide statistical and other reporting as necessary.
  • Briefing Material: Prepare executive briefing material and analytical reports relating to issues identified through ROVER Level 1.
  • Change Management: Identify opportunities to improve business process efficiency.
  • Information Requests: Respond to information and/or legislative requests.
  • Staff Management: Oversee staffing, performance, and development of staff, including daily team management and workload management.
