Program Portfolio Coordinator

At the heart of this role is delivering CARE's program portfolio and driving its strategic goals through effective grant oversight and management accountability for projects and programs.

This position requires a high level of collaboration with CARE on grant, program and project implementation, as well as supporting effective partnerships in line with CARE Australia partnership principles.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Grant oversight and management accountability for projects and programs within a defined portfolio.
  • Collaborate with CARE on grant, program and project implementation.
  • Support effective partnerships in line with CARE Australia partnership principles.
  • Coordinate grant/program/project planning and implementation, periodic reviews, reflections, learning processes of the project/program/grant.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including donors and other non-governmental organisations.
  • Actively engage in program development, including initiating and developing ideas for projects and programs.
  • Ensure all programs include appropriate risk management and mitigations to ensure the safety of program participants and communities.
  • Actively engage in the broader work of the International Programs team.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in International Relations or similar field.
  • Experience working in the international or community development and/or humanitarian sector.
  • Experience working alongside country teams and local civil-society organisations.
  • Strong communication skills in cross-cultural environments.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Skills, behaviours and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to support the work of CARE's broader portfolio.
  • An understanding of CARE's vision, mission and values.
